The City of Longmont will close the northbound lanes of Coffman Street between 2nd Avenue and 3rd Avenue on March 24. The closure will last three months as the city does concrete work on the south end of the Coffman Street Mobility Improvements project. This will extend the closure of the northbound lanes on Coffman Street from 2nd Avenue to 9th Avenue. Southbound lanes will remain open.

The city’s Envision Longmont plan, which will provide strategic direction and guidance for Longmont over the next decade or more, led to the Enhanced Multiuse Corridor Plan, which aims to create street corridors that” provide a safe, comfortable, low-stress bicycle and pedestrian facilities… to provide connectivity within the city’s trail system and multi-modal transportation network.” The Enhanced Multiuse Corridor Plan includes Coffman Street, which will be enhanced by adding a busway, bike facilities, and pedestrian improvements.

According to the city, construction on Coffman Street started in June 2024 and is expected to be completed in the summer of 2026.

The city also said that asphalt paving will also start on March 24 between 6th Avenue and 9th Avenue. Then, the northbound lanes in these blocks are set to reopen in mid-April.
