2 Arrested After Shooting Woman in Fort Collins

Two juvenile male suspects were arrested by Fort Collins police in connection with a shooting that occurred in October.

The incident involved a woman who was shot while attempting to stop a car break-in outside her home in southern Fort Collins.

Juvenile Suspects Arrested

Two juvenile male suspects have been identified and arrested by Fort Collins police in connection with the crime.

They are facing serious charges including attempted murder in the first degree, first-degree assault, and criminal trespass.

The first suspect has also been charged with tampering with physical evidence, while the second suspect is facing additional charges including aggravated robbery with a firearm and possession of a handgun by a juvenile.

These arrests follow a thorough investigation conducted by the Criminal Impact Unit.

Woman Shot in Car Break-In Attempt

Around 1:20 AM on October 21, a family member woke the victim up to tell her about a car break-in happening outside her home.

The woman ran outside in an attempt to prevent the crime when one of the suspects fired a shot, hitting her in the leg before both suspects fled.

She was quickly taken to a local hospital, where she received treatment and is expected to recover from her injuries.

Police Investigation and Community Response

The Fort Collins Police’s Criminal Impact Unit led the investigation that ultimately identified and arrested the suspects.

Assistant Chief Kristy Volesky emphasized the unit’s commitment to targeting armed suspects to enhance community safety.
