UCHealth has announced they will be expanding Longs Peak Hospital to meet the growing needs of the Longmont community.
Longs Peak Hospital opened in 2017 with 51 beds. Over the past few years, the hospital has grown to 83 beds and has added a trauma bay to the emergency department.
The updated master plan for the hospital will include new construction, the renovation of current spaces and the creation of a shelled space. It is expected to be completed in Summer 2025. The expansion is estimated to cost $82 million.
“The master plan was thoughtfully designed to grow the care we can provide UCHealth patients right here, close to home,” hospital president Ryan Rohman said. “We are honored that more and more patients are choosing to receive their care at Longs Peak Hospital. This expansion will help us ensure community members can receive the highest quality of care close to home while ensuring we’re ready for future growth.”
The new construction in master plan will include: two new operating rooms and the expansion of the post-anesthesia care unit and sterile processing department; three new labor, delivery, post-partum rooms and one new C-section room; and 10 additional treatment areas in the emergency department. Longs Peak Hospital will also build a new helipad.
Current spaces will be renovated as well as expanded, these will include the existing kitchen, dining area, pharmacy, clinical laboratory, materials management, environmental services, clinical engineering, facilities management, IT and support services.
Lastly, the plans include the construction of a shelled space to accommodate future growth to meet additional community needs. This space could be used for additional operating rooms or cardiovascular and imaging department expansions.
