This summer, patrons of the Sunset Swimming Pool will be able to swim anytime without registering first, beginning Friday.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, last year, Sunset Swimming Pool opened to the public, however, residents were required to make a reservation.
The pool will open its door for the first time this year at 10 a.m. on Friday for lap and open swim. Hours for Memorial Day weekend vary from the regular pool schedule. The regular pool schedule includes lap swim beginning at 10 a.m. and lasting into the evening hours, depending on the day. Open swim during the week begins at 1 p.m. with earlier hours on the weekends.
The pool is also bringing back its Middle School Swim Nights on Wednesdays beginning June 2. This is a two-hour swim event only for middle school students, smaller children are not allowed. “ Middle School Night will be the only activity going on at Sunset Pool during this time frame. No lap or open swim,” according to the website.
Longmont Recreation Services is currently enrolling for summer swimming lessons with classes available in its indoor and outdoor facilities. Some modifications have been made to swimming lessons to allow for social distancing.
The swim instructor will maintain a 6-foot distance from students. As a result, an adult 15-years-old or older must accompany students in the water for levels AquaBaby, AquaTot, Water Explorer, Turtle, Alligator, Seal, Beginning Blast, Blast 1, American Red Cross Levels 1, 2, 3. An adult is not required for advanced classes.
