The city of Longmont annually provides a curbside pick-up of tree limbs.
Throughout the year, Longmont residents are responsible for disposing of tree limbs and branched by taking them to the Waste Diversion Center, located at 140 Martin St. The center accepts yard waste and branches year-round, according to the city of Longmont website.
According to a Facebook post by the city of Longmont, residents who live north of Ninth Avenue can expect limbs to be collected beginning on April 5. Those who live south of Ninth Avenue can expect collections to begin on April 12.
Branches should be placed in the gutter, off the sidewalk, by 7 a.m. on the Monday of the scheduled collection week, according to the post.
Residents are asked to observe requirements when placing their tree limbs:
- Limbs must be less than six feet in length
- Must not be larger than six inches in diameter
- Be placed in piles no larger than three feet in diameter
- Piles must be placed at least two feet apart from other piles, fences, buildings or other obstacles
Tree limb collection will only take place in front of properties, even if trash collection occurs in alleys or on private property, states the site.
"Municipal code prohibits placing items in the street prior to the Saturday before special collections. Code Enforcement staff may issue notices or citations for branches placed in the street before the scheduled collection week," states the site.
