Dustin Kelsey, a 46-year-old man from Parker, was arrested and booked into the Boulder County Jail Wednesday night for striking a bicyclist and leaving the scene of the crime. The incident happened about 10:53 a.m. yesterday at the intersection of 63rd and Spine. The bicyclist was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
The incident occurred when Kelsey, driving a white Ford F150, was traveling northbound on 63rd Street and the cyclist was traveling eastbound on Spine Street. Kelsey struck the cyclist at the intersection and fled the scene.
Kelsey is currently detained with a felony charge for leaving the scene of an accident, causing serious bodily injury. He has also been charged with three misdemeanor charges for careless driving causing injury, careless driving causing serious bodily injury to a vulnerable road user, and running a red light.
The press release states the police identified Kelsey by late afternoon after receiving information from witnesses and conducting an investigation. Public records show Kelsey was booked into jail at 9:23 p.m. on Wednesday night.
