Thursday Nights @ the Museum: Noche de Museo: Celebrating Day of the Dead

Featuring Grupo Huitzilopochtli Danza Azteca, Las Dahlias and Los Mocochetes.
Join us for an evening of live performance in our Stewart Auditorium in celebration of Día de Muertos that will span the ages, from ancient Aztecan dance to contemporary Chicano Funk. An annual community celebration of a centuries’ old Mexican tradition that has quickly become part of the cultural fabric of Longmont! Co-presented with the Longmont Multicultural Action Committee.
Come early to explore our free exhibition of Dia de Muertos ofrendas (altars) built by community members and the work of local artist Pattie Moreno with Thursday evening hours from 5 - 9 pm.

Longmont Museum and Cultural Center
CENTRALongmont Presbyterian Church, in conjunction with Longmont Museum, will host a screening of the award-winning film At The River, a feature-length documentary about a handful of young Presbyterian pastors in the deep South in the 1950s and 60s who stood against racism and segregation—and the price they and their congregations paid for doing so.
There will be Q & A and a panel discussion following the screening featuring Carolyn Crowder herself, her associate producer Rod Murphy, Jr., and Dr. Les Purce, President for 15 years of Evergreen State College and the first African American elected to public office in the State of Idaho.
The film will be shown in Stewart Auditorium at Longmont Museum, Saturday, November 4, 2023. Doors open at 1:00 p.m. and the film will begin at 1:30 p.m. Admission is free but reservations are required.

The Good Life: Selected Shorts from the Indigenous Film & Arts Festival

The Museum is pleased to present an afternoon of documentaries and short films as selected for inclusion in this year’s Indigenous Film & Arts Festival on the theme of "the good life." To be followed by audience Q&A moderated by Mervyn Tano, president of the International Institute for Indigenous Resource Management.

Join Boulder-based meteorologist and journalist Bob Henson as he sorts through our warming world and look at some ways we can reduce the risks posed by weather and climate extremes, both globally and locally.

Winter Wonderland: Santa Claus Life Model

Clover Building at the Boulder County Fairgrounds
Immerse yourself in the magical atmosphere of the holiday season, and bring your own drawing tools, colored pencils, and watercolors to work with Santa as your life model. This workshop is designed for all artist levels, from beginners to experienced artists who wish to enhance their artistic skills and bring the spirit of Christmas to life.
In this workshop, you will have the opportunity to draw and paint Santa Claus in a variety of poses and settings, using him as your live model. Rob Birt (aka Santa) is a lifelong Longmont resident. You can learn more about his work as Santa at https://www.facebook.com/SantaAndCompany

Brought by attendees, any drawing pads, paints, canvases, and small easels that the attendees may want to utilize for the live model session. Tables and chairs will be provided. Sink and water available.
