Out and About: Boulder County Fair Parade returns on Saturday

County Fair Parade (23 of 35)
Crowds lined Main Street and Coffman Street for the Boulder County Fair Parade on August 7, themed Cowboy Boots with Family Roots.

The Annual Boulder County Fair Parade will take to Main Street to celebrate its 153rd anniversary on Aug. 6 beginning at 10 a.m.

The parade’s theme was selected to be “Meet Me Back at the Fair,” said organizer Ken White on behalf of the Kiwanis Club.

Marvel Movie Trivia

This Thursday, August 4th, Longmont Public Media kicks off our Thursday Night Live event series with Marvel Movie Trivia! If you enjoy the Avengers, Spider-man, Guardians of the Galaxy, or just like showing off that you're smarter than everyone else, come to Longmont Public Media from 6 - 8 PM on Thursday. We will be showcasing our community equipment and our makerspace as well as recording the event for our channels.

Outdoor Cinema

This Saturday as part of Summer on the Streets, Longmont Public Media will be setting up our Outdoor Cinema to show the 80's classic Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Bring your blankets and chairs so you can set up your spot to watch starting at sunset, right around 8:30 PM. The screen will be set up behind the Summer on the Streets festivities on Kimbark St. in between the Library and Longmont Public Media. Our Outdoor Cinema is proudly brought to the community by High Plains Bank! 

Note: If the weather gets bad, we will show the movie inside Longmont Public Media right next to the library at 457 4th Ave.

Join Ms. Lili for reading bilingual stories, playing, dancing and having fun in Spanish and English for children of all ages! All aged children with a grown-up are welcome. Each month, Ms. Lili will change park locations, giving the opportunity for all the Longmont community to participate.

Centennial State Ballet invites you to celebrate alum and incoming 2022/23 seniors with our company members at the third annual summer Garden Party, A Senior Celebration featuring the Crystal Swing Band!

Each in-person ticket purchase includes a shaded seating area for one (1) person on concrete at the Pavilion. Seating and Picnic begins at noon. Food Trucks: Georgia Boys BBQ and LoCo Snowballs will be available for lunch, drinks, and desserts. Performance begins at 1pm.

Picnic Style tickets: Remember to bring a blanket, pillows, and cushions for your comfort (will be located closer to the stage).

BYOC (or Bring Your Own Chair) tickets: For this style of ticket, your household will be located further from the stage and you can bring a combination of lawn chairs and picnic blankets/cushions for your comfort.

Longmont Public Media is clearing out their studio and partnering with artists from the Firehouse Art Center to create fun, perfectly lit sets that you can walk right into, pose with, and post to all your socials. Vendors and a food truck will also be there, providing more fun and refreshments in between shots. Just stop by Longmont Public Media starting at 6 PM on August 11th.

Boulder County Fair

The Boulder County Fair will return this year from Aug 11-14. We will be returning with many of the fun events and activities you remember from fairs past. We will be bringing back the carnival, live entertainment in the Fair Garden, Kid’s Corral and Petting Zoo and your favorite fair foods, along with 4-H animal projects, the Dairy Bar will be open for business and at this time we plan on a return to a live in-person junior livestock sale!

Costume Karaoke

On August 18th, pick your favorite song and dress as your favorite pop star as Longmont Public Media opens up its stage for karaoke night. Sing and dance on the same stage that local musicians perform live and record albums on. The event will also be recorded for our public access channel. Local vendors will be there to add to the fun, and the event is BYOB. Come to sing, dance, and show off your tribute to your favorite pop stars. An annual fundraising dinner hosted by El Comite. We will be hosting a silent auction, a live auction, and paddle raiser to reach (and exceed!) our fundraising goal of $50,000. Science @ Six : Exploring Chemical Volcanoes

Performing live this Thursday at Longmont Public Media will be Laurie Michelle and her duo Beautiful Humans. She will be performing her original folk music, some classic covers, and maybe even some dad jokes. Performance starts shortly after 6 PM and local vendors will be there with food, drinks, and more fun. Concert will be recorded for Longmont Public Media.

Murder at the Mansion: Murder Mystery Dinner

Guests are encouraged to dress in their 1920s (and for the weather)--but it is not required.

All funds raised will help support The St. Vrain Historical Society's efforts of historic preservation and education in the community.
