For the first time, Longmont will be holding a State of the City event.
Hosted by the Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce, the event is slated for Oct. 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Longmont Museum.
There is an open invitation to Chamber membership and the public to participate in the event at no cost.
"The Longmont community is eager for insights into the current state of our city and its future trajectory, particularly in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic in the areas of workforce development, housing, transportation and more," said Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce CEO Scott Cook. "Our businesses and residents often seek answers to these questions, and now, we are excited to introduce an event designed to unite our community, shedding light on ongoing developments and their impacts."
The keynote speaker will be City Manager Harold Dominquez, who will provide an overview of Longmont's current landscape, encompassing development planning, as well as updates on transportation and housing.
Community members from the Longmont Economic Development Partnership (LEDP), Longmont Downtown Development Authority (LDDA) and the Chamber will present information from business surveys, and other data on the health and well-being of the Longmont business community.
Following the program, city council candidate interviews will be conducted, which offers attendees a chance to hear from those vying for public office.
A light breakfast and refreshments will be provided.
Registration online is requested, but not required.
