Mountain View Fire Rescue has been looking for ways to expand its administrative offices for years. It has now purchased a new headquarters 6328 Monarch Park Place, in Longmont for $7.3 million.

The fire protection agency has outgrown its current location at 3561 N. Stagecoach Rd. in Longmont. The building offers 8,000 square feet of office space. The building was purchased 10 years ago with the hopes it would serve the organization in the long term, said Rick Tillery, communications specialist for MVFR.

Roughly four years ago, the fire rescue agency merged with Rocky Mountain Fire which resulted in a need to expand the space. MVFR allocated $8 million to expand its office space but ran into a need to also expand its logistics department. Together the cost rose to over $15 million.

“We wanted to find some way to house everybody that needs an office and have a little bit of conference space, in one building,” Tillery said.

A year ago, the organization began searching for a location that would fit their needs when they discovered the empty office building at Monarch Place with the help of their broker Brian Campbell of Coldwell Banker Commercial Realty.

The new 40,000-square-foot building will be the home to several divisions within MVFR including administration, prevention, fire marshals, finance, human resources, communications, logistics, training, health and wellness and the wildland division.

“We are going to have a much more efficient and comprehensive headquarters facility that is going to be able to serve, not only our district residents better, but it’s almost smack-dab in the the middle of the district,” Tillery said.

Tilly expects the new facility will help staff communicate more effectively and provide a more efficient process for firefighters as they learn about training or pick up new gear.

MVFR is renovating the new building to suit the needs of each division. It hopes to be in the new building by the end of the year. In the meantime, it is in the process of selling the current headquarters office. There will be no interruption of services during the transition, Tillery said.
