A 30-year-old man is facing several charges after he barricaded himself in a Longmont residence and threatened to kill police officers over the weekend.

Ian Hanuman was taken into custody and transported to the Boulder County Jail Sunday morning. Hanuman was booked on three outstanding arrest warrants as well as new criminal charges including first-degree assault  and violation of a protection order, according to a Longmont Police Facebook post.

Police said about 8:40 p.m. Saturday, they were dispatched to a welfare check on the 1600 block of Flemming Drive for an adult male covered in blood and asking for help.

At arrival, officers learned the male had been assaulted by a former roommate who was now prohibited from being at the nearby residence due to a restraining order. The suspect, Hanuman, was inside the victim’s residence and refused to exit, police said.

He barricaded the door, was armed with a stun gun, and threatened to kill officers if they approached, according to the Facebook post..

As a precaution, a shelter-in-place advisement was issued to surrounding residences. Due to the circumstances of the situation, the Longmont Police SWAT team was deployed to the scene. SWAT personnel utilized a variety of tactics to safely take the suspect into custody at around 2:00 a.m., police said.

The victim suffered serious injuries but was later released from the hospital.
