For over 15 years, scouts, churches and volunteers have grown Longmont’s biggest community food and clothing drive — the Longmont Turkey Turnout. This year they hope to collect over 5,000 pounds of food and over 1,000 pounds of clothing.

On Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon the group will collect donated items from thousands of homes across Longmont.

In the past, the Longmont Turkey Turnout has collected more than 70,000 pounds of food, 25,000 pounds of clothing and over 600 bicycles. This year bicycles will not be accepted.

The items benefit the OUR Center, HOPE for Longmont Homeless Outreach, The Arc of Colorado and Bicycle Longmont.

“The response the last few years has been amazing,” said event organizer Scott Conlin, “Following COVID-19, neighbors donated more than ever to these great local non-profits. There are so many people across the City who still need help.  We hope the response stays strong this year.”

Some Longmont homes had bags dropped off at their homes. These homes can simply fill the bag and leave all donated items outside the home for collection on Saturday.

For those who did not receive a bag, you can drop off your donation in the parking lot at 451 Kimbark St. — between Fourth and Fifth avenues before noon on Saturday. You can also text 303-319-9882 or 720-281-0329 or email [email protected] and the Turkey Turnout group will pick the items up at your home between 9 a.m. and noon on Saturday.
