Efficiency Works, which collaborates common efficiency programs in the area, is offering a $5,000 rebate to businesses that want to install a public Level 2 electric vehicle charging station.

Customers who receive service from Longmont Power and Communications, Estes Park Power and Communications, Fort Colling Utilities or Loveland Water and Power are eligible for the rebate as part of an initiative to improve access to public EV charging stations.

“The new EV charging infrastructure rebate aligns with Platte River’s long-term goal of 100% noncarbon electricity generation for our owner communities,” said Jason Frisbie, general manager and chief executive officer at Platte River Power Authority. “The rebate will enable businesses across northern Colorado to build out Level 2 EV chargers, expanding a zero-emission vehicle infrastructure network and supporting the elimination of air pollutants from the transportation sector.”

Customers can use the rebate for equipment installation such at trenching, underground wiring, new meters and concrete work.

Longmont currently has five public EV stations located at:

  • Development Services Center - 300 East parking lot on Kimbark Street
  • Longmont Museum - 400 Quail Road
  • Longmont Public Library - 409 Fourth Avenue
  • Longmont Service Center - 1100 South Sherman Street
  • St. Vrain Memorial Building - 700 Longs Peak Avenue

To start the process of installing EV charging stations in Longmont, businesses are encouraged to contact the Longmont Planning and Development Services Department at 303-651-8330.
