The Boulder Public Library (BPL) announced that today is the final day to vote for new library card designs, which will debut on BPL cards starting in June. There are 27 potential designs up for selection, all submitted last month by community members ages 15 and older. The two designs with the most votes will be printed on library cards this summer, alongside three winning designs created by children in three age groups: 5 and under, 6 to 9, and 10 to 14 years old.
From March 1 to 31, BPL hosted a contest inviting community members to design artwork for new library cards as part of the 2025 Summer of Discovery program. The library announced that two adult winners and three children would be selected to have their art featured on this year’s cards, with winners to be chosen in April. Online voting is only being used to select the community’s favorite adult designs, as the children’s winners have already been decided.
Contest participants were asked to submit artwork that shared their “best global designs or highlight the many connections you see in our world.” Acceptable art forms included digital media, fine art, and photography.
Boulder Public Library’s Summer of Discovery is an annual reading challenge that runs from June 1 through July 31. In past years, the library has set a collective community reading goal of two million minutes.
