I-25 North express lanes project construction impacts for the week of Oct. 22, 2023
Berthoud to Johnstown:
Saturday, Oct. 21, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m., southbound I-25 will be temporarily closed between Colorado Highway 402 and Colorado Highway 60 to allow crews to install a new overhead signage structure across the highway, north of Larimer County Road 14.
- Southbound I-25 traffic will exit at CO 402, turn right and travel west to US Highway 287, turn south and continue to Colorado Highway 66, turn left and travel east to re-enter southbound I-25 at CO 66.
- Traffic on CO 402 intending to travel south to Larimer County Road 16 via I-25 will be diverted to County Road 7 southbound.
Sunday through Tuesday nights, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., there will be various northbound I-25 right and left lane closures at Colorado Highway 56 to move barriers.
Sunday through Thursday nights, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., there will be various intermittent lane closures on CO 56 under I-25 to allow crews to place lane striping.
Monday, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., the southbound I-25 right lane will be closed at LCR 14 for sign structure installation.
Tuesday and Wednesday nights, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., the southbound I-25 right lane will be closed at Weld County Road 46 for sign structure installation.
Tuesday through Thursday nights, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., there will be various intermittent lane closures on the CO 60 bridge over I-25 to allow crews to place lane striping.
Wednesday and Thursday nights, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., the northbound I-25 right lane will be closed at LCR 16 to move barriers.
Thursday, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., the southbound I-25 off-ramp at CO 60 will be closed for sign structure installation.
- Southbound I-25 traffic intending to exit at Johnstown will continue south to CO 56, turn and travel north to CO 60.
Saturday, Oct. 28, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., southbound I-25 will be temporarily closed between CO 402 and CO 60 to allow crews to install a message board across the highway, north of LCR 14.
Johnstown to Fort Collins:
To perform roadway finishing work, various ramp closures will take place next week.
Intermittent closures of the northbound I-25 off- and on-ramps at Colorado Highway 402 and a full closure of the southbound I-25 off-ramp to US Highway 34 will take place from:
- 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday
Northbound off-ramp to CO 402 traffic will continue north on I-25 to Exit 257/US 34. Traffic will exit, turn left, and continue onto southbound I-25 to Exit 255/ CO 402.
Northbound I-25 on-ramp from CO 402 traffic will go south on I-25 to Exit 254/US HWY 60. Traffic will exit, turn left, and continue onto northbound I-25.
Southbound I-25 off-ramp to US 34 traffic will continue south on I-25 to Exit 255/ CO 402 and turn left. Continue east to the northbound I-25 on-ramp to Exit 257/US 34.
To safely install overhead sign structures above active lanes on I-25, full closures of I-25 will
take place nightly.
Full closure of northbound I-25 at CO 402 will take place from:
- 9 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday
Northbound I-25 traffic will exit at Exit 255/CO 402 and turn west. Continue west on CO 402 to CO 287 and turn north. Continue to US 34 and turn east to access northbound I-25.
Full closure of northbound I-25 at US 34 will take place from:
- 9 p.m. Tuesday to 5 a.m. Wednesday
Northbound I-25 traffic will exit at Exit 257/US 34 and turn east. Continue to Centerra Parkway and turn north. Continue to Crossroads Boulevard and turn west to access northbound I-25.
Single lane closures on I-25 between CO 402 and Prospect Road will take place nightly, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday through Friday.
Firestone Mobility Hub:
Daytime work, Monday - Saturday, 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Southbound I-25:
- Southbound traffic will be shifted to the right 24/7 through October.
- Caution: Watch for workers on foot and operating equipment.
- Trucks will merge with left lane traffic from the left shoulder. No lane changing in work zone.
Northbound I-25:
- Trucks will exit the highway from the left lane. Do not follow trucks into the work zone.
- Lanes narrow slightly through the work zone - Watch for wide vehicles.
East I-25 Frontage Road:
- The construction crew will be setting a southbound traffic shift into the middle turn lane.
- Flaggers will be in place to guide traffic.
Southbound Frontage Road/I-25 On-Ramp:
- Construction crews will be working on the left shoulder behind barrier on the left lane and shoulder.
- One lane of through traffic.

Construction activities are weather-dependent and subject to change. Please watch for construction vehicles entering and exiting mainline I-25 and obey all posted signage in construction zones. Your safety and the safety of our crews is our highest priority.
The I-25 North Express Lanes Project provides a Courtesy Patrol during commute hours (6 to 9 a.m. and 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.) to assist with disabled vehicles within the Project limits from Johnstown to Fort Collins.
About the Project:
Communities along the I-25 North corridor are expanding rapidly, contributing to major economic growth in northern Colorado. The Colorado Department of Transportation is supporting this growth by delivering the expansion of I-25 North. Improvements are currently underway along I-25 between Berthoud and Fort Collins (with more to come from Mead to Berthoud).
