A tutor and supplemental instruction coordinator at Front Range Community College Boulder County campus in Longmont was one of four Front Range employees given Commitment to Excellence Awards by the Colorado Community College System, or CCCS.
Fifty-six employees from across the 13 CCCS schools were given the annual award this week. The winners were lauded for their contributions to the overall success of their college, their students and communities, according to a FRCC news release.
Heather Frost — singled out as this year’s Outstanding Administrative/Professional Employee — uses her background in theater to help students, at the Longmont campus, find their passions and implement them in creative ways to make their work more satisfying and meaningful, the news release states.
“Her deep personal connections with students — and her heartfelt guidance — help them to achieve and let their own lights shine,” states the news release.
Frost’s nomination letter — written by a colleague at the campus in Longmont — states: “Heather’s responsibilities have expanded greatly and she has absorbed the new and traditional duties gracefully and competentently. She treats the tutors and student experts and fellow employees respectfully as people of dignity and full members of the FRCC community.”
“I am honored to be part of our students’ development,” Frost said in the news release. “I’m literally training the future leaders I wish to follow.”
FRCC President Andy Dorsey said he was impressed with how creative and resourceful the college’s employers are in helping students navigate the challenges erected during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Each of our winners plays a critical role in helping FRCC enrich lives through learning,” Dorsey said in the news release.
