Since 1966, the Gift of Home Tour has decked the halls of many homes throughout Longmont. For the fourth year in a row, the event has been hosted by Habitat for Humanity of St. Vrain Valley as its signature fundraiser.
"It is a traditional holiday event in Longmont and a great way to kick off the season," said Chris Hirai, director of development for Habitat for Humanity of St. Vrain Valley. "Because Habitat builds homes, the tour has a nice connection of being in a home, having family in a home that really comes out during the holidays."
This year's tour will consist of four homes within Longmont. The homes are decorated by local professionals to exemplify the holiday spirit. Volunteers along the tour will guide ticket holders through the homes to talk about the history of the homes and the decorations. Many of Habitat's homebuyers who are in the process of building their homes will also volunteer for the event.
Decorating businesses will also have stations in which to purchase decorations, flowers and even services, so patrons can bring home a bit of the holiday spirit they see along the tour.
Habitat is hoping to raise $40,000 from the event. The proceeds will go toward building new homes and bringing hope to future homebuyers and the community during the holiday season, Hirai said.
Tickets are on sale for the Dec. 5-7 event. They range between $35-45. Habitat is hosting a VIP Opening Night on Dec. 5 4-8 p.m. which allows ticket holders the first opportunity to browse and buy and also a VIP exclusive event at Parkway Food Hall at 700 Ken Pratt Blvd. #200.
