LONGMONT - The City of Longmont introduced a new on-demand transportation service, RIDE Longmont, on December 9, 2024. The ride-sharing service can transport citizens anywhere in the city for $2 (or $1 for students, seniors, and those with disabilities).

RIDE Longmont vehicles are branded minivans that will pick up passengers at their request via an app, similar to Uber. For those without smartphones, rides can be booked via phonecall (970-538-9097). The vans pick up passengers at the nearest street corner to where the ride was requested, the directions to which the app will provide.

The service is provided through Via Transportation, a company that provides transportation like RIDE Longmont around the world. The goal of Via’s microtransit is to be efficient, flexible, and cost effective for users.

The service is available for citizens from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays. Riders younger than 13 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

According to the City of Longmont’s official Instagram page, “whether you need a lift home after a too-ambitious workout or you want to get across town for a kid’s basketball game, RIDE Longmont can get you there.”
