Friends of Skyline High School senior Savion Lowe have raised more than $11,000 to help Savion’s family pay for his funeral expenses. The money was raised on a GoFundMe account dedicated to Savion, who died Tuesday.
The GoFundMe page said that Savion was a “senior on the varsity football team with a knack for making everyone’s day better. The young man died Tuesday and in just one day his fellow students raised $11,446 on GoFundMe to help Savion’s family pay for his funeral.” The goal is to raise $13,000.
“Savion made a huge impact on everyone he met,” Kayleigh Russell, Savion’s classmate said on the GoFundMe page. “When his name is brought up, a big smile shows up on people’s faces. #46 will forever be in our hearts.”

In an email addressed to the Skyline High Community, Skyline principal Heidi Ringer said “In moments like this, it is hard to find the words to express our collective grief upon learning of such an unexpected passing. At this time, we have no additional information regarding the circumstances of Savion’s passing. We are communicating this information with parents so that you can follow up with your child in a way you feel most appropriate.”
The St.Vrain Valley School District’s crisis response team is available to speak with any student or staff member who needs support during this difficult time, Ringer said in her email. Students and parents can call the school’s main office at 720-494-3741 to request additional support for your student, she said.
Ringer listed information to help families support their students as they work through their feelings of grief:
- Encourage your child to talk about their feelings
- Be wary of excessive and often inaccurate information posted on social media
- Validate your child’s feelings
- Actively listen to your child, however refrain from trying to rationalize the death
- Help children clear up misconceptions
- Arrange support for yourself and your family as necessary
- Affirm your child’s ability to cope and heal.
Ringer encouraged parents and children to visit with a counselor for additional support. If a student is experiencing unusual distress during the evening or weekend hours, the following resources are available:
