The Boulder County Clerk’s Office announced on Wednesday that Coffman Street in Longmont will be closed to north and south-bound traffic from 5th Avenue to 6th Avenue starting on April 17 and continuing for about five weeks. The clerk’s office said that citizens can access the parking lot at the St. Vrain Community Hub from Terry Street and advised that citizens give themselves “extra time to get to appointments there.”

The closure is part of Longmont’s Coffman Street Mobility Improvements project, which is aimed at improving the safety and usability of Coffman Street for a variety of vehicles and pedestrians.

Also as part of the project, the city closed the northbound lanes of Coffman Street between 2nd and 3rd avenues on March 24 for concrete work, with the closure expected to last three months. Asphalt paving also began March 24 between 6th and 9th avenues, with those northbound lanes expected to reopen this month.

Last week, the city closed parts of Longs Peak Avenue and 5th Avenue, just east of the intersection with Coffman Street, for paving. The paving was expected to be completed this week.

According to the city, construction on Coffman Street started in June 2024 and is expected to be completed in the summer of 2026.
