The Boulder Public Library is running a contest to design art for new library cards from March 1 to March 31 for its 2025 Summer of Discovery program. Art designed by two adults and three children will be chosen from the submissions to appear on library cards this summer. Winners will be chosen in April.
The only guidelines provided to contest entrants were to share their “best global designs or highlight the many connections you see in our world.” Acceptable artforms for submissions are digital media, fine art, and photography.
Boulder Public Library’s Summer of Discovery is an annual reading challenge that runs from June 1 to July 31. In previous years, the library has set a community reading goal of a cumulative two million minutes.
There are three age groups for children’s submissions: ages 5 and under; 6 to 9 years old; and 10 to 14 years old. Each age group within the children’s submissions will have one winner. Two winners, regardless of age, will be selected from the adult submission pool.
Artwork submissions must use a paper form available online or a high-resolution digital image that has a measurement ratio of 6.75 by 4.25 inches. Entries should be dropped off at any open Boulder Public Library District location or submitted online.
