The City of Golden posted on X on Monday morning that Golden High School was on lockdown at around 9:12 a.m. The lockdown began at around 8:15 a.m. and was initiated following reports of a student potentially in possession of a firearm.

Between the time of the initial announcement and 11 a.m., the Golden Police Department, school administration, and R1 School Security completed a controlled release and evacuation of students, according to another post made on X by City of Golden.
