Boulder County health officials, today, encouraged residents to continue getting tested for COVID-19, especially as the highly contagious delta variant continues to spread.

Chris Campbell, Boulder County Public Health Emergency Manager, said testing remains an important tool to stop the pandemic.

“Wearing a mask and timely testing continues to be essential strategies for containing COVID-19, particularly with the impacts of the delta variant,” Campbell said in a news release. “Even though more people are getting vaccinated, we still need to remain vigilant to protect our community.”

Residents exposed to COVID-19 should follow instructions on how to quarantine and watch for symptoms for 14 days and get tested, the news release states. People who are not fully vaccinated should seek testing 5-7 days after an exposure — 3 to 5 days for those that are fully vaccinated — or at any time if experiencing symptoms.

“Even though symptoms may not be severe — you may have none at all — it is still possible to spread COVID-19. If you have any doubt, we urge you to go and get tested,” Campbell said. “Tests are free, easy to access, and you will get the results quickly. We all have a role to play in keeping our communities safe and healthy. If we work together, we can put an end to this pandemic.”

There are many convenient testing providers throughout Boulder County, including three locations that offer tests for free, the news release states. A complete list of testing providers can be found at boco.org/covid19testing.

Vaccination and masking are also effective ways to stop the spread, according to the news release. A complete list of vaccine providers can be found at boco.org/covidvaccines.
