The Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce (LACC) welcomed arc Thrift Store into Longmont with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
Lloyd Lewis, President of arc Thrift, gave a speech of thanks to all involved including the City of Longmont. "We are very, very excited to be in Longmont. We have for a very long period of time wanted to be in Longmont and we found the exact right location," he said.
Lewis said, "This is the largest sales for any store in our company. We had our most successful soft opening in company history in fifty-one years. There were one-hundred Longmonters lined up outside. We are delighted to be here."
Lewis continued his speech with a brief history of arc and its purpose. "It is a non-profit. Our primary mission is to operate non-profit thrift stores, collect donations from the public, [which] we sell, [and then] ...the net proceeds [go to] support 15 advocacy programs across the state from Fort Collins to Pueblo. In turn these wonderful advocates help people with intellectual disabilities like Down syndrome, like autism, and like cerebral palsy, " he said.
Chris McGilvray, Vice Chair of LACC Board of Directors and local business owner, presented Lewis with a plaque on behalf of over 750 Chamber members to commemorate the event.
