On Friday, NextLight celebrated 10 years of serving the Longmont community. As part of its celebration, it announced that it would begin offering a discount for local eligible nonprofits.
“There are so many groups and organizations that serve as Longmont’s helping hands, working hard to make this a stronger, better community,” said Valerie Dodd, NextLight’s executive director. “We want to take this opportunity to help them in turn by freeing up some of their resources as they take advantage of NextLight’s high-speed service.”
Nonprofits could qualify for a 10% discount on internet and telephone services. They could also be exempt from added taxes with the exception of the mandated E911 charge and the federal utility tax on phone service. To qualify, nonprofits need to provide either their tax exemption document from the IRS or their articles of incorporation that shows their nonprofit status. Non-profits who wish to apply for the new discount should call NextLight at 303-774-4494, choosing extension 4 for business accounts.
The average rate for commercial customers is around $205 per month. The actual costs can vary greatly, according to Scott Rochat, public relations and marketing specialist. Smaller businesses may pay only $59.95 whereas larger commercial customers could pay over $2,200 per month.
Internet services are not taxed, however, phone services are. Customers will still be charged $1.40 per line for the mandatory taxes but will save around $2-3 per line for the waived taxes.
The discount for nonprofits will be offered into the new year, according to a news release from NextLight.
NextLight is also offering discounts to residential customers in celebration of its 10th birthday but the offers are only available through Dec. 31. Those discounts include:
- A $10 per month lifetime discount to new customers who subscribe to a gigabit connection or faster by Dec. 31, 2024
- A $10 per month lifetime discount to existing 100-megabit customers who upgrade to a gigabit connection or faster by Dec. 31, 2024
- A doubled “Refer-a-Friend” bonus, giving customers a $100 bill credit for every new subscriber they send to NextLight by Dec. 31, 2024
