Each year Arts in Public Places and Longmont Power & Communications host a competition for artists who wish to have their art on an electric box around Longmont. The community votes for their favorites and this year six were chosen.
This year’s winners include Stephanie Jordan "Summer in Colorado", Julie Kitzes "Colorado Fossils", Lindsey Karnuth "Childhood Optimism", Stephanie Montalto "Summer Nights", Karl Reeder "The Great Life" and Travis Rueckert "Lunch Box".
The winners are awarded $2,000 to complete the project. Then the artists are responsible for painting the 11”L x 10”W x 7.25”H electric boxes.
“We thank all the artists that participated and people that voted for their favorite boxes — we had many amazing designs and this is what the community voted for,” Longmont Arts in Public Places stated on its Facebook page.
