LONGMONT, Colo. –Despite its diminutive size, the emerald ash borer has decimated millions of trees in the U.S. and Canada. However, its discovery in Longmont in 2016 was the first spotting of the invasive flying insect in the state outside of the City of Boulder. The true extent of the emerald ash borer's local damage won't be known for years; meanwhile, it's eating away at ash trees throughout the city.

City Forester Ken Wicklund brings his extensive knowledge about this pesky bug to the Library in a special program on Thursday, May 17 from 7 to 8 pm. Now is your chance to learn how to protect your trees, mitigate damage, and plan for possible replacement. Registration is required and can be accomplished online at http://bit.ly/LibPrograms. No email address? Call (303) 651-8472 to register by phone.
