SVVSD nutrition services director receives national award

Katie Cossette, director of Nutrition Services at St. Vrain Valley Schools, received the FAME Award from Basic American Foods for her leadership in K-12 nutrition. 

Cossette is one of four K-12 nutrition services leaders to receive the 2025 award which honors nutrition professionals dedicated to making an meaningful impact within their school districts and communities. 

“Every year, we continue to be inspired by the incredible achievements of school nutrition professionals who support our school food programs. We are honored to partner with the K-12 food service segment and celebrate the accomplishments of these individuals,” said Nicole Strohman, Chief Commercial Officer of Basic American Foods. 

Cossette received the Silver Leadership Award for her work in diversifying school menus and embracing food culture. Her work resulted in a record number of students seeking out school lunches. Her work also priortized professional development and increased staff retention throughout the district. 

“St. Vrain’s Nutrition Services connects with our community and supports students with fresh, locally sourced options. Our team's commitment to innovation and inclusivity makes a lasting impact on students every day," Cossette said.

Cossette will join other 2025 award winners in Phoeniz, AZ on Jan. 19 for an award ceremony.
