SVVSD high school students show older adults how to utilize AI in their daily lives

Students on the Artificial Intelligence Project Team at the St. Vrain Valley Innovation Center hosted a workshop at the Longmont Senior Center on Thursday.

The AI workshop was one of a series that is part of the Innovation Center’s ongoing community outreach initiative. In the spring, students shared tips on cybersecurity at the Senior Center.

“The Longmont Senior Citizen Center approached the students once again, seeking their support in understanding the impact of AI on senior citizens,” a news release from SVVSD stated.

Those who participated in the event had the opportunity to explore and use AI and ask questions. The students’ goal was to create an understanding of what AI is, how to utilize it and how to integrate into older adults’ daily lives, according to the AI Project Team.

“Our goal is to create a dynamic and engaging experience for attendees, making AI accessible and enjoyable for everyone,” said high school senior Idaly Gomez-Pena. “AI is an invaluable tool that should be accessible to all. Our partnership with the Longmont Senior Citizen Center exemplifies how AI can enrich the lives of our community members."
