The Board of Education for the St. Vrain Valley School District approved its school calendar for the next two school years.
A 17-member committee made up of district staff, parents and community members began working on the two calendars in October 2022.
The committee used several resources such as calendars from neighboring school districts, schedules from universities, testing schedules and athletic and activity schedules to determine the best calendar options.
“We really do keep forefront in our minds student achievement and creating the calendar that’s going to be the best for the students,” said Diane Lauer, assistant superintendent for student achievement.
The adopted calendars for 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 will begin on August 13 of their respective years. School will be dismissed for the summer for the 2023-2024 school year on May 22, and May 21 for the 2024-2025 school year.
The calendar includes seven professional learning days that will be carried out as Late Start days on the first Wednesday of every month except October and January.
