The St. Vrain Valley School District has been recognized for excellence in budget presentation by an international group focused on business practices and policies in public education.

For the 2021-2022 school year, the district has earned the Pathway to the Meritorious Budget Award from the Association of School Business Officials International.

"We are proud to have earned this award, which is recognition of the hard work of our budget team and other district leaders,” St. Vrain Executive Director of Budget and Finance Tony Whiteley said in a statement. “Their thoughtful collaboration in preparing a comprehensive, clear and student-centered budget ensures that the allocation of resources continues to be in alignment with the district's mission and strategic priorities.”

The award from the nonprofit organization representing 30,000 school business professionals worldwide promotes and recognizes best budget presentation practices in school districts.

Participants submit their applications and budget documents to a panel of school financial professionals who review the materials from compliance with a specific checklist and other requirements. Districts then get expert feedback to improve their budget documents.

“This award reinforces our commitment to transparency and accountability to our community as well as our adherence to the high standards outlined by the award criteria,” Whiteley added.

Districts that successfully demonstrate they have met the necessary program requirements may earn either the Meritorious Budget Award or the Pathway to the Meritorious Budget Award.

According to a release from the district, St. Vrain Valley schools has earned the two-year introductory Pathway to the Meritorious Budget Award and is on track to qualify for the full award.
