On the morning of March 8, 2022, Roland Edward Thornton, 65 years old, passed away at North Suburban Medical Center, in Thornton, CO., as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Ed was born in Brooklyn, NY, on June 10, 1956. He grew up in Cobleskill, NY, until his father’s passing, then moved to Carolina, Puerto Rico. A few years later, Ed traveled west and finished his education in Boulder, CO. He chose never to leave the foothills of the Rocky Mountains where he called home.
Ed, a mountain climber enthusiast, loved the crisp mountain air and the challenge of a steep climb. Ed worked at a hair salon in Boulder for many years. He was a good friend to many; to some, he was their hairstylist one day and personal trainer the next. He wrote a book to assist fitness trainers develop a rewarding career. In numerous ways, he helped people feel beautiful.
Known to grab an open mike, Ed enjoyed entertaining by singing and playing the guitar. There were times that he was so nervous that he would miss a whole verse, yet still bring in a thunderous applause. Ed just seemed to make people smile. He lived his life with passion and will be remembered as a loving brother, uncle and friend.
Ed was preceded in death by his father, George, Sr., and mother, Elena. He is survived by his older brother, George, sister-in-law, Laurel, nephew, Sean, and nieces, Heather and Hope. He attended Flat Irons Community Church. Friends will be notified as to the date of the memorial.
