January 25, 1952 - July 30, 2023
Rodney (Rod) Hunter Wade, beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away peacefully on July 30, 2023, in Greeley, Colorado with his daughter Brookelynn by his side.
Rod was born on January 25, 1952, in Driggs, Idaho to Fred and Edith Carlson Wade. He attended school in Driggs, Idaho. He graduated from Teton High School in 1970, where he participated in basketball, football, track, and baseball. After high school, Rod worked for about a year and then served a mission for the Church of Latter Day Saints in Sweden.
Rod had a very strong work ethic. He began working at the age of 5 when he herded sheep all day for his father. From that time forward throughout his work career, Rod established and maintained a reputation for taking responsibility and working hard.
Rod worked many different jobs early on. He found his true calling when he served as a sheriff’s deputy at the Teton County Sheriff’s Office in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. This position led him to his final and favorite position as a federal court and security officer in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Rod was a prankster, a tease, and when dared, would do just about anything! He loved the outdoors and enjoyed riding horses, four wheelers and dirt bikes. He was also an avid reader.
Above all, Rod truly enjoyed being with his family. He loved family reunions and visiting with his children and siblings. In 2019, Rod moved to Colorado to live with his daughter Brookelynn. They had many good times and made lasting memories, especially watching the Denver Broncos play.
Rod was preceded in death by his parents, best friend and chosen brother, Steve Platts, and 3 nephews, Adam Stoker, and Joseph and Benjamin Sorenson. He is survived by his children Kolton (Tenay) Wade of North Carolina, Amanda Wade of North Carolina, Amber Fowler of Utah, Breckenridge (Alaina) Wade of Missouri, and Brookelynn Wade of Colorado; grandchildren Kieran and Embry Wade, Oliver and Madison Fowler, brothers and sisters Sandra (Elmer) Vorwaller, Jolene (Ray) Robinson, Beth (Richard) Sorenson, Margaret Wade, Alan (Karen) Wade, Don (Vicky) Wade, Wendy (LaVel) Stoker, Gerry Wade, Tania Wade, and David Wade, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Rod had a heart of gold and was quick to offer help, support and advice whenever asked. He loved a good time and brought others along for the fun. He made friends wherever he went. His purpose in life was to love and be loved. The loss of Rod has left a big void in our lives, but he will be in our hearts until we meet again.
A special thank you to “Hot Rod’s”, angels at Grace Pointe for treating him with dignity and bringing him joy and laughter during his final days.
Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints building in Tetonia on Saturday, August 12 at 11am. Visitations will be from 10-10:45am, prior to the funeral. Burial to follow in the Hayden Cemetery.
