Robert H. Oppenheimer, of Longmont, CO, passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 19, 2020. He was 94 years old.

Robert was born on October 24, 1925 in Germany to Julius J. Oppenheimer and Anna E. Fuhr. He immigrated to the United States in 1953 and lived and worked in Manhattan while attending City College, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering. He met Jeanne Scoma at a classical music festival and they were married in New York City and then settled in Glen Cove, NY on Long Island where they raised three children and remained until moving to Longmont, CO in 2019.

For most of his career Robert worked as an engineer in the printing industry and he held multiple patents. He was active in the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Muttontown, NY. Robert was a lover of the outdoors and was an avid golfer for many years. Right up until his passing, he enjoyed peaceful walks on his own. Robert was a lifelong learner who read a wide range of subjects, especially related to mathematics and the physical sciences.

Robert is survived by his wife, Jeanne; his children George Oppenheimer of New York, Elizabeth "Betty" Taylor and her husband Scott of Colorado, and Ruth Oppenheimer and her husband Welkin Johnson of Massachusetts; and his grandchildren Jeremy, Kacey & Alex, and Sophia & Nikolas and their mother Sarah Homrighausen.
