SEPTEMBER 10, 1927 – MAY 27, 2021
Richard Walter Behrmann (93) was born September 10, 1927, to August Behrmann and Anna Wittekind Behrmann in Longmont, Colorado. He passed May 27, 2021, at home.
Proceeded in death by his parents and siblings Ernst Behrmann, Luise Behrmann Gebers, Hans Behrmann, and Ilse Behrmann Bruning.
Richard attended Bader Elementary and graduated from Boulder High School in 1945. He served in the US Army stationed in Fort Bliss, TX and was discharged in 1952. Richard, as a lifetime member of Messiah Lutheran Church, taught Sunday School, sang in the church choir, served as an elder and held many leadership positions.
Richard spent his entire life working the dairy farm on the family homestead near Haystack Mountain. He served on the Board of Directors at the Federal Land Bank, held offices for the Table Mountain Ditch Company and served 44 years on the Board of Directors of the Left Hand Ditch Company.
Surviving nephews and nieces include Janice Behrmann Dawson, Marcene Behrmann Cropp and Arlyn Behrmann Dirkes, who were all raised by Richard, and they considered him more of a father than an uncle; Arthur Bruning, Donald Bruning, Cathleen Bruning Zielinski, Kenneth Behrmann and Cheryl Behrmann Keir, as well as numerous other nieces and nephews up through 4 generations, including John Dirkes, Jr. who was also his business partner.
Richard was deeply loved by all. He was a generous loving man who greatly cared for his family, friends, and neighbors and most importantly his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at 10:00am at Messiah Lutheran Church in Longmont, CO. Viewing will take place one hour before.
