Mary Claire Schacht, 83, of Loveland, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2023. Mary was born on March 19, 1939 in Butte, Mont. to Andrew and Ruth (Barrett) Kehoe.
She graduated from Butte Central High School in 1957 and went on to attend nursing school at Carroll College in Helena, where she earned her degree in 1961.
She would eventually move to Denver, where as a labor and delivery nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital she met her future husband, longtime Loveland OB-GYN Dr. Frederick Schacht Jr.
Fred and Mary moved to Loveland in 1969, where together they built his medical practice and raised their family. Mary was active in several charity organizations, including Loveland’s Philomathean Club, and volunteered in many different capacities, her caregiving work with Pathways Hospice being one of the most impactful.
Mary’s family owned a men’s clothing store during her childhood in Butte – Kehoe’s Hat Box – and she carried on that family tradition and love of fashion, collaborating in operating a boutique in downtown Loveland in the 1980s.
Mary was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church from the time she arrived in Loveland until her death, rarely missing a week of mass.
She is survived by her son, Kent Schacht (Courtney) of Garrison, N.Y., and daughter Heidi Schacht of Loveland; granddaughters Tyler and Riley Schacht and grandson Hudson Schacht.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Fred, as well as her parents and brothers Andrew and David.
Memorial services are scheduled for Friday, February 3, 2023 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Loveland, 1730 W 12th St, Loveland, CO 80537, at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Foothills Gateway in care of Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home, Loveland, Colo.
