Joan Carol Campbell passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 04, 2022, surrounded by her loving family at Longmont United Hospital. She was born April 24, 1942, in Farmington, Missouri. Carol was the youngest child of Vernon Sr. and Golda Barton. She moved to Longmont in 1958 and married Melvin Dale Paxton in Longmont, CO. on July 4, 1964. Carol and Mel raised their two children Mike and Lori in Longmont, CO.
Carol remarried in December 1986 to Philip Campbell. They spent time in Longmont, and later moved to Missouri for a year, then making their way back to Longmont where they spent the rest of their time together. Carol was a hard-working single mother for many years. She worked in manufacturing and after many years of service, Carol retired from King Soopers in 2007.
Carol enjoyed spending time with her beloved family. She adored her two grandchildren, Greg, and Ryan. Carol loved visiting with friends and family, and when done visiting she would always say ”what’s your rush? Sit down and stay awhile”. She was a collector of Moon & Stars glassware, angels, and doll figurines. Carol also loved to paint ceramics; she especially enjoyed dry brush painting horses and Indians and took great pride in the art she created. She was big fan of old-time country music and loved to listen to it on her car radio.
Carol enjoyed cooking and always made enough food to feed the entire neighborhood. Carol was an animal lover her entire life and had numerous pets including cats and dogs all throughout her life. She was known for taking in stray kitties in the neighborhood that needed a loving home. Carol had an infectious sense of humor and enjoyed bringing laughter to others right up to her death.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents and three sibling’s, sister Betty Lunsford, sister Aletha Lunsford, and brother Vernon Barton Jr. Carol leaves behind her husband Phil, children Mike (Cyndi), daughter, Lori, grandchildren Greg, Ryan, and great-grandchildren Ayden, Zoey, Roman, and Elle, brother Robert (Norine), numerous nieces and nephews.
Private family services will be held in Farmington, Missouri later this summer. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Longmont Humane Society.
