Hilja passed away Friday, September 4, 2020, peacefully from natural causes. She was a very strong Christian who prayed for our country and its people and all those she came in contact with. Hilja is survived by her son Ray Savickas along with wife Carol and their children Teisha and Jannelle and great-grandchildren Austin, Zeke, and Evie. Hilja is preceded in death by her parents Yaau and Maria Mudas, her sister Helgi, and husband Lewis.
She was born December 6, 1924, in Poltsamaa, Estonia. She left Estonia in 1943 on the last truck out of the country before the Russian invasion. Married in 1947 to Boniface “Ben” Savickas then later in life married Lewis Statler. She retired from IBM in 1990, and loved to travel around the country in their camper. Her favorite moments were always at the ocean. She truly lived life, her way, through simple pleasures.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Hilja touched are invited to the Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home, 1102 Lincoln Avenue, Loveland, from 11 AM to 12:30 PM on Friday, September 18, 2020, to reminisce and, of course, just chat. Hilja will be interred in Loveland Burial Park in Loveland, Colorado.
