Harry Donovan McCabe, 87, passed away on May 2, 2022 in Loveland, CO. Harry was born Sept. 14, 1934, in Dayton, Ohio to Louise and Clement McCabe.
Harry was employed by IBM as a surface analyst most of his career, first in Poughkeepsie,NY, then in Boulder, CO and finally in Tucson, AZ where he retired.
Harry married Julia Sparrow in 1965 while in New York and they had three children, Deborah, Karen and Michael. Harry met and married his loving wife of 48 years, Lois Ernst Saari, in 1974 in Longmont, CO and became the father of two stepchildren, Steven and Gina.
When Harry retired, he and Lois moved to Loveland, CO in 1993. After working part time for the City of Loveland as a paratransit driver, Harry began volunteering. He volunteered at the House of Neighborly Service, with VOA serving lunches at Chilson and assisting with income tax preparation, Community Kitchen, Loveland Shriners, Banner Hospital, Loveland Kiwanis Golden K and his church. His new life was volunteering and playing golf. Up until his health problems became so severe, he had been spending the happiest years of his life.
Harry is survived by his wife, Lois, his children Deborah of Aurora, CO, Karen and husband Charles of Houston TX, and Michael and wife Elizabeth of Tucson, AZ, step-daughter Gina of Yreka, CA, nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and is predeceased by his step son, Steven.
Harry was a quiet and unassuming man whose heart was easily touched. He will be so deeply missed.
Memorial service, Thursday, May 19, 2022, 2:00 p.m., Zion Lutheran Church.
