Frederick "Fred" Mosher

Frederick Ray Mosher, 77, of Fort Collins, Colorado, passed away on March 22, 2024 in Hastings, New Zealand while on a cruise.

Fred was born on May 6, 1946 to Paul and Irene Pabo Mosher in Wilmington, Delaware. After graduating from Lackey High School in Indian Head, Maryland in 1964, he earned a degree in Physics from the University of Maryland. He served three years in the army before attending the University of Wisconsin - Madison and graduating with a PhD in Meteorology.

Fred worked post doc for Space Science and Engineering in Madison, Wisconsin before going to work for the Severe Storms Forecast Center in Kansas City, Missouri and then the Aviation Weather Center also in Kansas City. His last and much loved job was as Applied Aviation Sciences Professor at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Fred met Karen Zoll in 1962 at a science fair. They married in La Plata, Maryland in 1968 and went on to have two daughters, Ellie and Jennie. Fred retired at the age of 70 and spent his time with weather related computer programming, travel, gardening and being Mr. Fix It for friends and family.

He was predeceased by his parents Paul and Irene Mosher and his sister Anne Mosher Dalton. He is survived by his wife Karen, their two daughters, Ellie with her husband Bryan Gillispie and their children Henry, Grayson and Thea, and Jennie with her husband Nathan Kimbrough. He is also survived by three of his sisters, Grace Mosher Swanson, Lucy Mosher Miller, and Mary Mosher, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on August 9, 2024 at Resthaven Funeral Home at 8426 S Hwy 287, Fort Collins, Colorado 80525 between 2 and 5 o’clock. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Habitat for Humanity.
