July 28, 1931 ~ May 20, 2020 (age 88)
Emma was born in Creston, Montana. She had three sisters and eight brothers. She was the last child born. At age of 4 the town got sick with typhoid fever. Six of her brothers were sick but they all survived. However the oldest sister and her mother died. Emma was raised by her grandmother until her father remarried.
She went to college and became an elementary school teacher. She went on to marry a farmer, and birthed a girl and boy. They lived in Illinois. She had asthma bad and finally the doctor advised them to move west where the humidity was not so bad. So after living eleven years in Illinois they moved to Longmont, Colorado. She continued teaching in Longmont, in fact added 20 years here in Colorado of teaching 3rd grade. She lost her 18 year old son in a car crash.
Both she and her husband loved softball. They joined the City of Longmont’s softball team and both played for several years until the team dissolved due to shortages of funding. They were in their late 60’s.
Note the picture of her by a puzzle. She couldn’t read the last year of her life, but was able to put together puzzles, which she enjoyed.
Emma is survived by her daughter Monica and Grandson Ethan.
