Joy, bliss, rapture, and ecstasy were frequent visitors to Dorothy Walters in the last half of her amazing life. Her community knows that Dorothy has now transitioned to realms of unparalleled love and light, as described by Rumi, Hafiz, Mirabai, Kabir and other mystic experiencers of the Divine. In 1981, while serving as a professor of English and Women's Studies at Wichita State University, Kansas - - Dorothy experienced a "You're Not in Kansas Anymore" transformative event. It wasn't a tornado, but a spontaneous Kundalini awakening which was profoundly life-changing. It ultimately triggered a numinously inspired, divinely-infused muse urging her to write exquisite sacred poetry and prose.
Her books include: "Marrow of Flame", "Some Kiss We Want", "Kundalini Poems", "Kundalini Wonder", and "The Goddess Speaks". Her work has been described as: astounding, rapturous, heart-opening, jaw-dropping, captivating, sacred and divine. Dorothy was a guest on "Buddha at the Gas Pump" with Rick Archer, and was featured on many webinars and videos with sacred activist and beloved friend Andrew Harvey and others. Dorothy was a mentor, sage, patient wisdom-keeper to many kundalini experiencers and seekers worldwide as well as her truly beloved local friends.
She is survived by her two spiritual nieces: Jacqueline Arnold and Julie Gail. Her surviving relatives include a niece, Susan Walters Bize (Trey) and three nephews: Roland Walters (Kelsey), Paul Walters (Alexis), Mark Walters (Laura), five great-nephews, and three great-nieces. She asked to express her gratitude to those who cared for her: Kathe Huntley, the Tibetan caregivers, and the staff of both Trail Winds Hospice, and Waneka Park Assisted Living.
