Donald "Don" J Hinz, age 93, passed away peacefully in his Boulder, Colorado home on September 2nd, 2021.
Don was the youngest child of Karl and Vera Hinz of Oshkosh, Wisconsin. After graduating high school Don attended the University of Wisconsin and was a proud badger. Once he graduated college he entered the U.S. Army. After the serving his country, he followed his passion in physics and electronics engineering and began work with the Aberdeen Proving Grounds - Ballistics Program Division. He married his sweetheart Barbara Chamberlain and soon after started their family. They raised three children. In the late seventies Don was on a business trip which brought him to Boulder, Colorado. He immediately fell in love with the area and the mountains.
When he returned home, he decided to retire after 25 years of service and move the family to Boulder. While living in Colorado, Don enjoyed spending time with his children and grand daughter, reading, painting, listening to big band music, sailing, and driving around the mountain roads and nearby towns. Don lived out the remainder of his years in the mountain home of his dreams. He will be sadly missed by all. Don is survived by his children: son - Dave (Danna) Hinz and their daughter Shayna, son -Donald Hinz (Jr.) and daughter - Susan Hinz. Don is preceded in death by his parents, Karl and Vera Hinz, wife Barbara Hinz, sister Elizabeth Hinz Minzlaff, brother Robert Hinz, and grandson Tanner Hinz.
