JANUARY 6, 1949 – DECEMBER 16, 2020

Daniel (Danny) Michaud, 71, died on December 16th, 2020, at his home in Berthoud, Colorado, after 26+ years of battling Parkinson's disease.

Danny was born January 6th, 1949, in Nashua, New Hampshire, the youngest of five children born to Albert and Irene (Soucy) Michaud. The family moved to Rockville, Maryland, in 1964. Danny graduated from Montgomery Blair High School in 1967 and from the University of Maryland in 1975. Danny and Suzanne met when his family moved next door in Rockville; at that time Danny was 15 and Suzanne was 13. They married February 20th, 1971, at St. Mary's Church in Rockville, Maryland. Six months after they married, they quit their jobs, took their savings and headed out on a road trip around the United States. After college graduation Danny and Suzanne embarked on another road trip that ultimately resulted in a move to Colorado in 1976. Danny worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier in the Mapleton Hill area of Boulder, Colorado, until he was forced to retire due to his illness.

These road trips began Danny's love of travel, hiking, and the great outdoors. His other great interests were classical music (25-year season ticket holders for the Colorado Music Festival), playing his baby grand piano, tennis, pickleball, and vintage baseball.

After 15 years of marriage, Danny and Suzanne were blessed with the birth of Jason Andrew Michaud, born two months early at 3 lbs. Jason is the great joy of their lives.

Danny is survived by his wife, Suzanne (Covert) and son Jason and his wife Erin of Garner, NC; sister Jeannine Clement of Grand Junction, CO; brothers Robert Michaud (wife Brenda) of Dunedin, FL, and Raymond Michaud of Palm Harbor, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, his brother, Roger Michaud, brother-in-law Jean-Paul Clement, and sister-in-law Rose Michaud.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation or the Parkinson's Association of the Rockies. Due to current circumstances, a memorial service will be held at a later date.
