Longmont Recreation Center Maintenance Closure
The Longmont Recreation Center, 310 Quail Road, will be closed for drop-in use on Saturday, Aug. 21, during the Kids Only Triathlon and Try-a-Tri special event. The building will remain closed to the public August 22-29 for annual maintenance on systems and equipment.  Please visit the other recreation facilities including Sunset Pool, Centennial Pool and the St Vrain Memorial Building during the closure.  Call 303-651-8404 with questions or visit longmontcolorado.gov/rec

Downtown Summer Concert
Music and dancing in the street return to downtown Longmont from 6-9 pm on Friday, Aug. 27! Local favorites “The Long Run” — Colorado’s tribute to The Eagles — will take the stage at 4th and Kimbark for a night of local music, food, drinks, and community fun! In-person Coffee with Council
Longmont City Council will host Coffee with Council from 9 to 10 am on Saturday, Aug. 28, at Hearthstone at Hover Crossing (a Longmont Housing Authority property), 1762 Cook Ct. At this event, you can talk informally with City staff, Council Member Aren Rodriguez and Mayor Brian Bagley on any topic of your choice, and the coffee’s on us! Amazing Insects at Sandstone Ranch
Join Russ Lambert, “The Bug Man,” for a hands-on and interactive talk about the insect and arachnid world at 10:30 a.m. (ages 10 and older) or 12:30 p.m. (ages 18 and older) Saturday, Aug. 28 at the Sandstone Ranch Visitors & Learning Center, 3001 Sandstone Drive. Play Online Trivia with Librarians
“Are You Smarter than a Librarian?” — an interactive, online trivia night program moderated by your Longmont librarians — is back on Monday, Aug. 30, from 7-8:30 p.m. The program series is aimed at adults and older kids and features up to 25 people, teams, or households competing for bragging rights by winning the best of five rounds of play. Volunteers Needed at ArtWalk
The Longmont Downtown Development Authority (LDDA) and the Firehouse Art Center are looking for community volunteers to help before, during and after the Longmont’s Sesquicentennial (150th) birthday during ArtWalk from 4-8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11. Volunteer positions include kids activities, being captain of a block, helping with art demos, monitoring entry/exit points, supporting vendors and musicians, setting up, and breaking down after the event.
