NEWS RELEASE
LONGMONT LIBRARY
*************************
The rehabilitation project continues at the Longmont Public Library with 2022 funding approval for carpet replacement for the 2nd floor. During the project, engineers will also be identifying any structural repairs to be completed by construction crews prior to the installation of new carpet.
The 2nd floor, including the collections housed there, will be closed to patrons and staff until late spring. During the closure, patrons may request items through the catalog, which will be delivered from the libraries in our consortium to the holds shelves on the 1st floor of the Longmont Public Library. Children’s and Teen materials and programs will be accessible throughout the project, as will the Circulation and Information desks in the Lobby, Friends Book Shop, and an assortment of new materials for checkout.
The computer lab will be temporarily relocated to the 1st floor of the Library in the Meeting Rooms, located by the West Entrance of the Library. Patrons will be able to access computers and printing services during the 2nd floor closure on a walk-in basis. A Library staff member will be present in the lab during business hours to help patrons with any questions.
Previous phases of the rehabilitation project have included substantial structural repairs to the foundations and 1st floor of the Library, as well as new flooring throughout the 1st floor. Those interested in more details of the Library’s rehabilitation project can see ongoing (and previous) updates at bit.ly/FacilityProjects.
