A Youth Life Skills Fair will be held on April 6 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Boulder County Fairgrounds, in Longmont. The fair will include workshops and informational booths that aim to teach 11 to 17 year olds practical skills and educate them about job opportunities and city resources. The fair is put on by the City of Longmont’s Children, Youth, and Families division and the St. Vrain Valley School District.
Skills that kids will learn at the fair include resume building, interviewing strategies, financial literacy, and more. All of the skills focused on within the event are ones that kids can use to ensure their “successful future.”
The City of Longmont said that the fair “aims to give all youth an opportunity to acquire new skills and explore diverse career paths while enjoying each other’s company.” The event is educational, but organized to have a festival atmosphere — there will be games, a live DJ, and food trucks, and kids will have the opportunity to win prizes.
This year, there will be a parent area where adolescents’ parents can learn skills to better support their kids.
The event is free but preregistration online is encouraged.
