Longmont’s visitor center will move to a more prominent spot, on Main Street. Visit Longmont will be moving into the front half of the Longmont Downtown Development Association, or LDDA, offices at 320 Main Street before the end of August.
“Visit Longmont is excited to have greater visibility with a Main Street presence, allowing us to reach more visitors, and even locals, who are looking for information about all that Longmont has to offer,” said Visit Longmont’s Visitor Center Manager Gera Sivak-Salva.
The Visitor Center will occupy the space where Bricks Retail is currently located, while the Colorado-focused retail store will move into a permanent location at 512 Fourth Avenue. The location swap is scheduled to begin August 14.
“Several years ago we began discussing the possibility of co-locating the two organizations,” said LDDA Executive Director Kimberlee McKee. “For years, people have stopped at Visit Longmont for a Downtown Gift Card or the LDDA office for visitor information. Having it all under one roof makes sense.”
Visit Longmont, also known as the Longmont Area Visitors Association, manages marketing and development of tourism for Longmont and the surrounding areas. The organization recently signed a $200,000 contract with the city of Longmont to rebuild and reprioritize tourism efforts for the city after a 60% decrease in the Lodger’s Tax collection that helps fund the tourism agency, according to a city staff report.
According to McKee, the move will help Visit Longmont better collaborate with Advance Longmont partners like the Longmont Economic Development Partnership and the Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce and avoid duplicated efforts.
“Visit Longmont has had a strong presence downtown for quite some time,” McKee said. “It will be a nice addition to Main Street but the primary benefits are the efficiencies and collaborations for the future.”
