At 10:40 p.m. and 11:58 p.m. Thursday, March 15, emails were shared with parents of Blue Mountain Elementary and Altona Middle schools, respectively. The nature of the emails were to update parents that a threat had been made to the schools and the steps included to insure the safety of the students on Friday, March 16.
At this time the Longmont Observer is not sure the exact time the email would have been sent to Silver Creek High School, however, it has been confirmed that school officials that one was sent.
Below is a copy of the email sent to parents, notifying them of the threat and the precautions taken. The same email was distributed to the parents at all three schools, with the names and contact information changing to fit the schools themselves.
The threat was reported through the district's Safe2Tell program.
School officials were then notified of the threat and, with the help of local law enforcement, took action to verify the validity of the threat.
The nature of the threat was not divulged to the public.
The schools are in session today and will carry on with already scheduled events. However, they are increasing the presence of local law enforcement in each building.
If parents feel as though the threat warrants keeping their student(s) at home, the absences will be excused.
