Longmont City Council will virtually host Coffee with Council from 9 to 10 a.m. Jan. 30. At this event, you can talk informally with at least two council members on any topic of your choice. Council to hear air quality/oil and gas update
Longmont City Council will hear an update on the city's Regional Air Quality Study at 7 p.m. Feb. 2 during the council study session. Data collection at two monitoring stations began in late 2019 and the first year of data collection has resulted in significant scientific findings. The data have been used by regulating agencies and scientific institutions, and can be viewed in near-real-time online at www.bouldair.com/longmont.
Trace your family roots this year
If one of your resolutions is to fill in your family tree, you’re in luck. The library’s partnership program with the Longmont Genealogical Society continues this year with “Genealogical Basics Online” and will be held on the last Saturday of each month (Jan. 30) from 10 a.m. to noon via Zoom. “Happy Birthday Longmont” special event

SilverSneakers and Renew Active programs
SilverSneakers fitness classes return in February. The SilverSneakers and Renew Active (United Healthcare) recreation programs are designed for Medicare participants with select insurance plans. Both include use of facility amenities and group fitness classes, by reservation, at the Longmont Recreation Center, Centennial Pool and the St. Vrain Memorial Building. Small Business Grant Relief Program applications Now open
Boulder County, in partnership with local government and nonprofit partners, will be administrating a small business grant program to specific businesses in January funded by the State of Colorado. Awards will range up to $7,000. The online application website is open and will be available until 5 pm on Friday, Jan. 29, 2021. Successful grantees will receive the grant award on or before Feb. 11, 2021. Subscribe to Air Quality Updates
As directed by city council, and in accordance with the objectives of the Sustainability Plan, an air quality monitoring program has been developed to monitor oil and gas emissions, and the overall air quality in the city of Longmont. Two air monitors track the presence of compounds such as carbon dioxide, ozone, nitrogen oxides, methane, benzene, and particulate matter. Longmont’s preliminary air quality data is available in near real-time to interested residents at bouldair.com/longmont. Air quality information also is available by subscribing to the city's e-Notification system at longmontcolorado.gov/online-services/e-notification-subscription and choosing the "air quality" category.
